Most students have already gone back to school and that means studying is upon us. Whether it’s an exam, a project, or a paper, studying requires a certain degree of focus and concentration. 1. Create a Study Environment
If focusing is difficult for you, you should always choose an adequate environment that will help you concentrate. Choose a place that will be quiet and free of distractions. This place could be the library, your bedroom at your desk, or the corner of a coffee shop. Ensure you have a comfortable seat, a power supply, and a cleared table-top. Put your phone away and do not open social media on your computer.
2. Set Clear Goals
When studying, you should always set clear and precise goals for yourself. For example, if you are studying for an exam and have five chapters to review, an achievable goal could be reviewing two chapters before your first break. Small, achievable goals help you achieve the overall goal – doing well on the exam.
3. Create a Study Schedule
Carve out a section of your day dedicated to studying. This can change as the level of studying changes. If an exam is coming up, maybe you need to carve out two hours everyday to prepare for that one exam.
4. Decrease Distractions
Try to block out all possible distractions when you are studying. This includes your phone, social media, family or friends, and any other activity that is not studying. Distractions only impede your focus and concentration.
